The Classic Draped Chuppah is a traditional Jewish wedding canopy: four posts carrying a softly gathered white fabric roof, with fabric falling at each corner. It is the most versatile design we hire - it suits a synagogue, a country house or a hotel ballroom equally - and it can be built to hold your own family tallit as the canopy instead of our fabric.
About the Classic Draped Chuppah
This is the design the company began with, and it is still one of the two or three we set up most often. There is a reason traditional forms survive: a soft white canopy above a couple reads instantly, in any room, in any photograph, as a wedding.
The canopy is gathered rather than stretched flat, which is a small detail that matters enormously. A taut roof looks like a gazebo. A gathered one falls into folds that catch the light and move very slightly in the air of the room, and it photographs with depth rather than as a white rectangle.
We hold a range of fabric weights. A fine chiffon drifts and suits an outdoor or summer ceremony; a heavier bridal satin hangs still and reads more formal, which is usually right for a ballroom. We will bring samples to the conversation rather than asking you to choose from a website.
If your family has a tallit you want to stand beneath, this is the frame that most often carries it. We size the supporting structure around the tallit rather than asking the tallit to fit our frame.

Yes, and it is one of the most meaningful things you can do at a Jewish wedding. We build the supporting frame around the dimensions and weight of your tallit so that it hangs correctly and is under no strain. Send us a photograph and its measurements when you enquire.
We hold several weights of white and ivory fabric, from a light chiffon that moves in the air to a heavier bridal satin that hangs completely still. Which is right depends on the room and whether you are indoors. We will talk it through rather than leaving you to guess.
It is the most common choice for a synagogue ceremony, yes. It reads as traditional, it does not compete with the architecture, and it works with almost any colour scheme or floral arrangement.
Yes - florists usually work along the top frame, around the posts, or woven into the drape itself. We are happy to speak to your florist directly about fixing points before the day.
Six to twelve months before the wedding is comfortable. Peak season in the UK runs May to October and Sundays go first, so if your date is in that window it is worth enquiring as soon as you have the venue.
