Family tallit canopy
A tallit chuppah uses a family prayer shawl as the canopy instead of hired fabric. We build a supporting frame engineered around the exact dimensions and weight of your tallit so that it hangs correctly and carries no strain. It is the most personal option we offer, and it is the closest to the oldest form of the chuppah.
About the Tallit Chuppah
Of everything we build, this is the one couples are most likely to cry under, and it is worth saying why plainly: the canopy is not ours. It is theirs, or their father’s, or their grandfather’s, and the moment it goes up over them the ceremony connects to everyone who has stood under or worn it before.
The engineering matters more here than anywhere else in the collection. A tallit is not a structural fabric. It has a specific size, a specific weight and, very often, an age that makes it fragile. We build the supporting frame around your particular tallit rather than asking your tallit to stretch to a standard frame – which is how heirloom textiles get damaged.
We can build the frame in any of our finishes: white or black timber, gold, or a simple concealed structure that leaves the tallit as the only thing anyone sees. Most couples choose the last, and they are usually right.
It also works the traditional way, with four poles held by grandparents, parents or close friends rather than standing freestanding. Tell us which you want and we will build for it.

Almost all of them. We design the supporting frame around your tallit's specific dimensions and weight rather than the other way round, so unusual sizes are not a problem. Send us the measurements, the approximate weight and a photograph when you enquire.
Traditionally four people close to the couple - grandparents, parents, siblings or close friends. We can build for held poles or as a freestanding frame, and some couples do both: held for the processional, then set into stands for the ceremony itself.
Tell us. We engineer the frame so the tallit is supported rather than stretched, and we handle it accordingly on the day. Fragile and antique tallitot are exactly why we build the frame to the textile rather than the textile to the frame.
Yes - floral accents on the poles or at the corners are common. Most couples keep it restrained so the tallit is unmistakably the focus, and we would gently steer you the same way.
