Oak chuppah
The Natural Wood Chuppah is a Jewish wedding canopy built from stained and finished oak. Unlike our painted white and ebonised black frames, the grain is left visible - the timber itself is the finish, in a stain unique to this chuppah. Its four top beams are cut with a shallow sweeping profile that lifts at each corner, giving a softer line than a plain square frame. It comes in one standard size and takes either a tallit or a tulle canopy.
About the Natural Wood Chuppah
Our white and black frames are painted and ebonised – the timber is a base for a colour. This one is the opposite. The oak is stained and finished so the grain stays visible, and the colour it carries is particular to this chuppah alone.
The detail that separates it from a plain square frame is in the beams. Each of the four top rails is cut with a shallow scooped profile that dips gently at the centre and lifts where it meets the posts. From a distance you read it as a softer, lighter structure without necessarily seeing why. Up close, the shaping is the thing people comment on.
What it suits
Warmth. It is the frame to choose when a painted white structure would feel too clinical and birch would feel too rustic – a garden ceremony in late summer, a walled garden, an orangery, a marquee with timber and natural light in it.
It also holds its own undressed. Where the white frame is designed to disappear beneath floristry, this one is worth leaving visible. Loose seasonal arrangements at the base of each post, rather than a full covering, tends to be the right instinct.
Size and canopy
It comes in one standard size. That is a deliberate constraint rather than a limitation – the proportions of the shaped beams are drawn for this footprint, and scaling them changes the line. If your room needs something larger or smaller, the White Wood or Black Wood frames come in several sizes and we would point you there.
The canopy takes either your own tallit or a tulle covering. Send us a photograph of the tallit and we will confirm the fixing before the day.

Yes, and it is arguably at its best there - gardens, orangeries and marquees suit the warmth of the stained oak. As with any freestanding structure we will assess the site and advise on anchoring and a wet-weather plan.
We would suggest not. The shaping in the beams is the point of this frame, and a full floral covering hides it. Loose arrangements at the base of each post leave the structure visible while still giving your florist plenty to work with.
