The Metal Lace Chuppah is a Jewish wedding canopy whose sides are formed from intricately laser-cut metal panels. When lit from below or within, the perforations throw detailed lace-like shadows across the floor, the walls and the couple standing beneath. It is available in a gold and a white/silver finish.
About the Metal Lace Chuppah
Most chuppahs are objects. This one is an object plus everything it does to the light around it.
The panels are laser-cut with a fine perforated pattern, so they read as solid decorative metal when you look at them and as a light source when you look at what they are doing to the room. Uplit from the base, the pattern is thrown outward across the floor and up the walls in a lace shadow that moves as people move through it. Guests notice it before they notice the structure.
The gold finish belongs in a warm room – amber uplighting, candles, a hotel ballroom with a lot of gilt already in it. The white and silver finish suits a cooler, more contemporary space and throws a crisper shadow.
It is one of our heavier designs, being metal, but it is fully freestanding and our team handles the whole installation. Venue load is not something you need to think about; we will have discussed it with your venue before the day.

Metal Lace Chuppah - your questions
The panels are laser-cut with a fine perforated pattern. Light directed at them from below passes through the perforations and projects the pattern outward onto the floor, the walls and the ceiling as a lace shadow.
Gold, and a white/silver. Gold belongs in warm rooms with amber light and existing gilt; the white finish suits cooler contemporary spaces and throws a crisper, higher-contrast shadow.
It is striking unlit, but the shadow effect - which is the reason to choose it - only happens with uplighting. We would recommend booking our lighting package alongside it rather than hoping the venue's house lighting will do the job.
Yes, being metal, but it is fully freestanding and our team handles the whole installation and removal. We confirm any load requirements with your venue in advance so it is not something you need to manage.
A simple white fabric canopy, usually. The panels are doing a great deal of visual work already and an elaborate floral roof tends to fight them.
